So George Rebelo is the new drummer for Against Me!, after the recent departure of their drummer Warren Oakes, to focus on the opening of his Mexican Restaurant in Florida. Angiepants contributed the news to punknews.org (first) here. George recently recorded on The Ship Theives album and was said to be recording with Hawks and Doves (Gared from ex-Planes Mistaken For Stars).
So friends, I don't know if you've read along the interweb, but there is lots of new updates of Chuck's new album 'Gold Country". For one, I bet you didn't know before yesterday that it was called Gold Country. I also bet you didn't know it is planned to be released September 21, 2009.
Well here is a snipit of what I am talking about:
"The official release date from our good friends at Side One Dummy Records will be September 1st, 2009. The CD and digital formats will be released and available by Side One Dummy while the vinyl version will be released on our own label Ten Four Records with art and design by Boris Vrbich."
BUT THAT IS NOT ALL! Chuck Ragan and Brian Fallon (of The Gaslight Anthem) are planning on putting out a Split 7"! It is too be called "The Gospel Songs 7 Inch"
"This is a double A-Side Split 7” featuring song writers Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music) and Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem). The artwork looks like an old hymnal because these two artist sing and write songs that are from that hopefully can start a music Revival." o_0 I see what they did there.
"The A side of the release is a new track from Chuck Ragan’s forth coming release called “Glory”. The other A-Side is Brian Fallon’s “Tin Pan Alley”.
The pressing is limited to 2,500.
500 on brown vinyl which will be sold exclusively at the Vinyl Collective.
500 on White vinyl which will be sold at Hot Topic.
1,500 on Black Vinyl that will be sold through SideOneDummy (1,000 US pressing, 500 European pressing)."
And gives a nice little update on what is going on in the HWM-world. If you didn't know, now you do.
"Hey everyone,
It's been a while since we've updated anyone on the happenings with the four of us, so I thought I'd bring everyone up to speed. But, before I do that, I want to make sure that everyone is aware of the HWM coffee mugs that No Idea made. Possibly the coolest thing to brandish the HWM logo yet. They have them for sale on the other side of the merch link here on the page. I'm actually using one right now. The coffee somehow tastes....better?
Anyway, here's everyone's deal:
Me: I'm still doing Senses Fail. I just got home from the longest (literally) tour I've even been on (11 weeks). Wow.
Chuck: Just finished recording his new record. He's currently in Australia with Tom Gabel (Against Me !!!!!!!). It also appears as though he's booked a tour to and from my wedding in June. I think the record is out in the fall with I'm sure another Revival Tour to support it.
George: Just finished playing on Chuck's new record. He's also been jamming with Gared from Planes on his new deal, Hawks and Doves, as well as playing with Wollard on his Ship Theives dates.
Wollard: Finally got his solo record out a couple of months back. Check it out, it owns. Hes been playing some shows here and there and is working on new material as we speak.
And that pretty much brings us up to speed. No news on HWM shows just yet, but hopefully we'll have some soon.
But it says the exact same thing. Oh and like Jason said, the mugs are at noidearecords.com. Just look at the bottom of hwm's page if you didn't already.
Chuck keeps it rollin with Lee Bender on Trasher's site.
"When you’re young and all you’ve got is skateboarding, friendships, and music, there seems to be those one or two special bands that pull everything together—from single songs on broken mixtapes to full discographies on repeat through the night. With his song titles etched in griptape and his raspy recorded voice, Chuck Ragan——formerly of Hot Water Music and Rumbleseat—delivers music that’s more than driving and more than personal, often about simple subjects that are not only uplifting but real as well."—Lee Bender
